Now That I Did It...?

Now that I have this blog site I should proceed with posting something. I have read postings from many sites and noted an infinite variety of writing styles. I admit that I do not know what my style will be. Now at 57 what will proceed from this store of experiences? Perhaps some treasure of wisdom or just a fuddy duddy comment....we'll see.

For today I will comment on the service at The Rock this morning. As Pastor Ron ministered on the subject of "Ebony and Ivory", I thought back over the progress toward tearing down the walls of racism that I have seen in my lifetime. I remembered when I was in high school and dated a wonderful boy who was a Chinese American. We went to a high school football game and as we walked toward the bleachers, we saw everyone watching us. This was about 40 years ago and we both realized that everyone was very unhappy to see us together. I was so amazed that we were judged by our skin color and not by who we were as a person.
After a few dates where we experienced the glares of disapproval, we agreed to be friends but dating was too uncomfortable. This young man became a doctor....just think I could have been a doctor's wife....just kidding, Sweetheart!!

It was about 21 years ago that I first attended church services that included someone other than white people. Now, I worship with a wonderfully diverse representation of the family of Yahweh. I love my church family!

I want to continue to tear down any and every wall that divides and confront any remnant of prejudice in my heart. As a teenager I was not confident enough to do the right thing, but now
I am!
